Cables & wires

We supply LT power and control cables (copper and aluminium, armoured and unarmoured), house wires, FRLS and HRFR wires and flexible cables from Siliguri. We are an authorised dealer for Havells and Mescab, and cable can be cut to the length you need instead of buying a full drum.

Which cables and wires can I get?

Copper or aluminium — which one should I choose?

Copper carries more current for the same size, is easier to terminate and is the normal choice for house wiring and smaller sizes. Aluminium is lighter and cheaper per metre, so it is widely used for larger LT feeders and service cables, where a bigger size is chosen to carry the same load. Aluminium needs the right lugs and proper tightening; a loose aluminium joint heats up.

For homes, use copper house wire. For long feeders from a meter, transformer or main panel, ask us to price both — the difference on a big run can be large.

What do the letters on a cable drum mean?

Indian LT cables follow IS 694 (PVC insulated) and IS 7098 Part 1 (XLPE insulated). The code printed on the sheath tells you the build: A = aluminium conductor (no A means copper), 2X = XLPE insulation, Y = PVC insulation or sheath, W = round steel-wire armour, F = flat steel-strip armour, Wa = aluminium wire armour for single-core cables. So A2XWY is an aluminium, XLPE-insulated, steel-wire-armoured, PVC-sheathed cable.

Our guide on armoured vs unarmoured cable covers this in more detail.

Can I buy cable by the metre?

Yes. Most power and control cable can be cut to length from the drum, so you pay for the metres the job needs, not a full drum. House wire is normally sold by the coil (usually 90 m). For a long run, measure the route, add a little for bends and terminations, and tell us the total — we will quote it as one length.

How do I order cables?

Send your list on WhatsApp — a photo of a handwritten list is fine. We reply with an itemised quotation showing brand, size and price, and confirm what is ready to go.

Quick answers

Do you cut cable to length in Siliguri?

Yes. Power and control cable can be cut to the length you need from the drum. House wire is usually sold by the 90 m coil.

Which wire is best for home wiring?

Copper FRLS or HRFR house wire. FRLS gives off less smoke if it burns; HRFR tolerates higher temperatures. Both are better than plain PVC wire for homes.

Do I need armoured cable underground?

Yes. Cable buried directly in the ground, or run where it can be dug into or crushed, should be armoured. Unarmoured cable is for trays, conduits and protected runs.

Which cable brands do you supply?

We are an authorised dealer for Havells and Mescab, and also supply cables and wires from Polycab, KEI, RR Kabel and Anchor.

What size cable do I need for a motor or sub-panel?

It depends on the load, the length of the run and how the cable is laid. Send us the kW or amps and the distance on WhatsApp and we will suggest a size with the quotation.

Have a list? Send a photo.

A photo of the handwritten list is enough. We reply with an itemised quotation — brand, size, price — and confirm what is ready to go.
